Standing Up Against Child Abuse

McKenzie’s Hope is the Huntington County Child’s Advocacy Center (CAC), an independent, non-profit organization. The center serves as a stable, child-friendly environment dedicated to investigating child abuse and neglect while minimizing further trauma to young victims. Co-founded by Cynthia in response to local tragedies, it brings together a multidisciplinary team to coordinate a unified response to abuse situations. reports.

The Farm Girl

Growing up a farmer’s daughter and living her life on country roads, Cynthia doesn’t just stand up for farmer’s rights – she lives and breathes the culture that is Indiana’s farms. This is more than just a catchy way to relate to the rural community, it is a lifestyle she will defend with all she’s got. NO data centers. NO industrial solar.

“I grew up on a farm. I love the country. It doesn’t look quite like it did back then, when it was all family farms. It’s all so recent – but our youth may never know what we’ve lost because of this corporate greed. We absolutely must protect the family farms and local agriculture. These data centers and industrial solar projects, they’re bad. We cannot let them win.

Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

Regardless of your party affiliation, the year you were born, your race or religion or gender – civil rights have effected your life. Indiana’s history in this regard bears stories of both great leadership and great shame. Cynthia was a child of the Civil Rights Movement and witnessed the world change – right here at home, and through the TV scene during a time where reporting was less filtered, less politicized, and more honest.

She carved out the opportunity to make strides as a leader in a community when most “seats at the table” were only available to men. In the mid-’90s, she was only the third woman to ever be a member of Huntington’s rotary club. Never one to shy away from making a well deserved statement, she made sure that the men in the room knew that her husband enjoyed “lady’s night” just as much the wives the night was meant to honor. Her husband, always a supportive spouse, shared her sense of humor in that moment.

Cynthia was always well known in the community. Her flower shop was the best around. Her attentiveness to her children would pull on the heartstrings of the most hardened among us. Her true grit and strength of character never came into question. There is a reason so many support Cynthia, from all sides of the isle.
